Beating the Heat with some B&J

hello friendsies! i'd like to apologize for my lack of any posts these past few days. in between school, the release of the 2012 Bar exam results, my friends' graduation, pleadings to make, and groupworks to do, busy would be an understatement - i was literally running from one thing to another just to get some stuff done. and not to mention my exams! lol. so anyhoo, i'm just glad my exams are finally over and school is officially out. other than our bi-weekly law diagnostic exams for review, my summer this year is basically mine to do whatever i want, so long as i'll read all those law books i have to read for school. yey!

so moving on, the summer heat lately have been scorching - i could barely walk a few meters from our apartment without beads sweat already running down my face. urgh. i have no problem commuting my way to anywhere but at times like this, especially when you're walking for a considerable stretch, i wish i'm driving my own car. o.O looking on the bright side though, this perfect beach weather is also a perfect excuse to cool off and what better way to cool off than have something literally cold - ice cream!

my mom and i was at shopwise the other day and decided to buy a pint of ice cream to bring home. we decided on Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk. i know, i know. lol. this is me super cheating on my planned diet but what the heck, it's summer and ice cream was just too perfect to pass up. this is also my first B&J ice cream as i've always go for something cheaper. as a tribute to summer, we felt like indulging so why not B&J, right?

i have to say that B&J DID NOT DISAPPOINT. i lalalove New York Super Fudge Chunk and that's saying a lot. i love junk foods to death but ice cream was always something that i could live without. after B&J, my heart is singing a different tune. hahahahha!

it says on the label that New York Super Fudge Chunk is made up of "chocolate ice cream with dark and white fudge chunks, pecans, walnuts, and fudge-covered almonds." yummy to the max, right?

basically, the cold treat tasted like ice cream heaven - creamy, flavorful, and indeed, very heavy with fudge chunks and whatnots. i love how it tastes so luxurious, as if the makers were not that worried about sacrificing the taste quality for the sake of profits coz it didn't taste commercialized at all. for P285/pint, I'd definitely buy this ice cream brand again.. it's more expensive than the local brands but it sure was worth it. 😄

Late Sunday Drive

Hello! Today I woke up waaaay quite later than I would have wanted but after two days with less than 5 hours of shuteye altogether, sleeping for the whole day of Sunday sounds too good to pass up. I woke up at around 5pm just as my dad arrived from the province. Uh-oh. If there's one absolute no-no whenever my dad is around, it's lazying around and doing nothing and that was exactly what I was doing! Lol. I hurriedly got up, gathered my stuff strewn around the space, and put them away in my room. Fortunately, my dad didn't bother with the usual stuff when he got inside the pad and announced that we should go to SM as my brother had to get some formal shoes. I still have tons of things to read for Tuesday but I guess going to SM for a while would't hurt.

As expected, the mall was packed with people but compared to some days, I don't think it was that busy for a Sunday. So while my brother and dad looked for some shoes, I looked around at the ladies's department. After browsing the shelves for a while, I tried on some Grendha sandals as they have some new designs. They look so cute and comfortable but with a price to match. As much as I would have wanted a pair, I know it was way beyond my budget at this time. I moved on to some other shelves until I got to the slippers. I tried on some pairs until I saw one of my favorite brands next to Brazilea --- Sling! They're really comfy and doesn't feel so slippery whenever my feet sweat. Getting overly sweaty, feet included, have always been my problem ever since but over the years, I've managed to find stuff that caters to me and my problem (and it's not as worse as before na). So yep, without further ado, I looked for my size and took it to where my dad and brother were still trying on some shoes. As my mom was not with us, there was no one to question me why I was buying a pair as I already have 3 pairs at home. Hahahaha This is the perk whenever I go with my dad and brother when they have to go shopping for their stuff - they won't question why I'm buying girly stuff. Lol 😊

I love the fact that this pair of slippers is anti-microbial and odor-resistant. It also says that it's animal free though I don't really get what that means but I'm betting that that's good too. 👍 Also, it's made in the Philippines so plus points for that (all the more reason to buy slippers like this.. hahahaha). 😉

Later on, I also bought a Missha BB Cream for P799 just as my dad went to ACE. I got the smaller version though I don't think it's the perfect shade for me. I'll do a review about it later on but so far, after putting some right when we got home, I guess it's safe to say that I'm not allergic to it. That has always been my fear whenever I buy something for my skin coz there's always my tendency to break out or get rashes and stuff. So far, everything's good.

Well, that's it for now. I'm off to start reading again for my exam on Tuesday. Urgh. But anyhoo, I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Happy Sunday guys. 😊

When all else fail, blog.

I've been a frequent blogger ever since I got my first decent Internet connection which started way back during my second year of college. It started with Friendster, then I got hooked on Multiply, tried posting stuff on Blogspot, eventually went for Blogger, did little random posts on Facebook here and there, and mainly reblog pics on my Tumblr. My virtual life is basically out there for all the world to see and though it has it's downsides, most of the time, it offers me an outlet to let out my thoughts which I am better at expressing through words.

I'm starting this blog mainly because I want to post reviews about stuff that I use and the likes. I know, I know. I'm probably a little behind already when it comes to product blogging and all that but like I've said, I'm doing this as an outlet to get my thoughts out. I'm not much of a talker and besides, being a law student, I doubt anyone would be interested in listening to me whine about why my eyeshadow creased, what's my favorite shampoo, or the treats that my dog is into. I'm not saying law students don't appreciate these kind of things; it's just that with all the cases and books to read, I doubt these stuff will interest them much.

So anyway, this blog is basically me polishing my failing attempts at writing things, expressing my rants and raves over all the things that our material world has to offer, jotting down what I think, and posting about my life as a law student, wannabe make-up artist, frustrated writer, animal advocate, traveler, and a girl who's out to live life to the fullest.

For now, I'll leave you some pics of my furball Chumchum. :)

Archie Makes Me Happy

So just the other day, I went to National Bookstore at Mango Ave. with my mom to look for some law books. I love going to this place even though there's really nothing to buy there at times. Still, I usually end up getting some little random things like a cute ballpen perhaps or a girly post-it whenever I drop by this place.

I had the names of the books I needed in my list and fortunately, they were all availble. I got them in no time at all but as expected, my mom was not done yet browsing through the shelves so I got myself busy too, checking out some novels and all. It was when I got near the counter when I saw them - the second book of the 'The Best of Archie Comics' all piled neatly in a side shelf. I couldn't contain my glee upon seeing them. I've been an avid fan ever since I was a child and had a number of their issues myself. This version though is a compilation of their bestselling stories in a book-type format. I seldom buy their comics anymore as personally, I think P199 for a double-digest is a bit much. My collection's mainly made up of those given to me as gifts while the rest was bought during a sale (still at National Bookstore about five years ago) where they were sold for P88/double-digest. So yes, this book-type format is a welcome addition as at their state, I think P399/book is manageable (though my mom thinks it's still nonsense.. lol.. what can i say, I definitely lalalove reading Archie:).

And here they are, the books 1 and 2 of The Best of Archie Comics:

Book 1 @ P399

Book 2 @ P399
